Ak-Chin Recreation Park 3B

Ak-Chin Indian Community, Arizona

The Ak-Chin community selected SAGE to lead the design and oversee construction for the Recreation Park 3B. This important public amenity needed to meet the needs of multi-generational citizens and integrate functionally and aesthetically with the surrounding community center and pool. Construction was incorporated with another adjacent restroom building project so that both projects received the financial benefits of one contractor and construction schedule.

Park facilities include a fully equipped and lit baseball field, ADA Compliance children’s play equipment, open space turf for unstructured play, a jogging/walking path, as well as ramadas for shade and picnic tables. Drainage was addressed with an integrated multi-use detention basin.

The Community and Tribal leaders led the decision making throughout the design process, which resulted in a fully accepted and well loved park project.
